While working on complex folds, it would be great to be able to use the edge command while the phi surface is off otherwise you would be drawing blind in certain instances.

If I understand correctly you mean that the surfaces get in the way as you try to add a new edge, and you would like to see what is “behind”. Currently we need the surfaces to be present, as we take advantage of the raycasting method to “project” the drawn edge onto the face. However I believe that we could make the surfaces almost transparent, which would probably help in what you are asking for.

yes that would help immensely

You already have 2 options for this, though, which I quickly demonstrate in the attached video: (1) Turn the surface to a transparent “glass-like” material so you see through it, and (2) work in hidden edge mode, which also adds transparency everywhere. For (2) it helps to also turn off the “inside face red” option. Also bare in mand that in this mode you’ll intercept also the hidden edges, so you may end up adding edges to the rear faces of the object, so it requires a little more attention.

Thank You for the tips Stephanos :)
