It’s a small detail, but when i’m selecting verts that are colinear on a plane while looking at them perpendicularly, they overlap and I can’t tell what I have selected. I always double check by rotating my view slightly in 3D and then returning to an ortho view, but a little bit of text somewhere that shows how many edges, verts, or faces i have selected at any point would be a nice touch.

In general the vertex (or any object) that is “closest to you” is selected. But indeed sometimes it can be confusing if two vertices are too close or overlapping. Also there is sometimes a “fight” between a vertex and an edge emanating from it, if you try to select the edge very close to the vertex. Your suggestion to display the number of selected vertices/edges/faces on the screen is a very useful one, thank you! My only concern would be how/where to display this information in order not to clutter the interface too much. We’ll experiment with a couple of options and will try to include this in the next release (probably next week).

Great! Other apps that I use display this information in the bottom corner in a small font that contrasts the background color.
