After taking the time to select an arc segment and defining the exact circle you want, you probably didnt want that to move. After creating the circle, it would be nice if those specific lines could be still be selected so you can then use the lock command “X” to lock that line in place instead of having to go back and select the segments if there are other non circular segments around it where you couldn’t just simple hit shift and click to select the entire loop instead of the the specific arc.

Hello, what you wrote makes a lot of sense and we could implement it easily. However we also get the opposite suggestion often, i.e. that after any operation such as this the user expects everything to be deselected so they can continue their work. We’re not sure how to compromise the two views, as they both have their merits. Any thoughts?

To deselect, the segments is a quick click of the background. However, to select a long series of arc segments that make up the specific arc is a much longer process. If there was a decision matrix that could be followed where arcs are left selected, and full circles are left unselected that would be ideal, because if a circle is left unselected, the user can simply hit shift click to loop select the entire desired segment very quickly, to then lock if they choose.

Understood, and it makes sense! We are also implementing a more flexible multi-selection interface, so you click on one edge and then shift-click on another, and everything in between is also selected. This should be available in 2-3 days, we’ll let you know!
